Registrars Industry News - June, 2026

A lot is happening across the sector right now.
Significant legislative changes are working their way through parliament that could reshape how key life events are registered in England and Wales. Among the proposed changes is the introduction of telephone and video registration for deaths, which would end the longstanding requirement to attend in person. If passed, it represents a meaningful shift in how registration services operate, and one we're already thinking ahead on. We're working closely with our community to develop a fit-for-purpose approach, with a number of early adopters already making strong progress. More on that soon.
National Registrars Day is on 1 July, and it's a moment we always look forward to. It's a chance to recognise the dedication and professionalism of registration services up and down the country, and to celebrate the teams who quietly keep one of the most important public services running. As part of the celebrations, we'll be sharing stories from across our community. You can get involved too by sharing your own on LinkedIn using the hashtag #NationalRegistrarsDay. We'd love to see them.
Finally, dates for LARCSA 2026 have been announced. This year's Annual Learning and Development Event, hosted by the Local Authority Registration and Coroner Services Association, will take place on 14 October at the Voco St John's Hotel in Solihull. It's always a highlight of the calendar, and we're looking forward to reconnecting with familiar faces and meeting new ones from across the registration community. Events like these give us the chance to listen, learn, and gather insights that directly shape our product roadmap, and every conversation helps us deliver greater value, flexibility, and control to registration services. If you're attending, let us know, we'd love to find time to connect.
