Introduction: more information on our form-based HWRC booking system.

In the last blog, we introduced our new form-based HWRC booking system—a streamlined version of our award-nominated product.

This time, we’re taking a closer look at why this system was developed, its role in supporting the future of HWRC technology, and the standout features that make it a game-changer.

The state of play.

Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) are under growing pressure as councils confront well-documented budget shortfalls. In response, many are contemplating site closures and reduced operating hours, with discussions increasingly revolving around reverting to legal minimum service levels.

While there’s no single remedy to these financial challenges, one strategy is gaining momentum: more than half of all councils now employ a HWRC booking system to drive cost efficiencies. Among them, councils in our community have seen particularly strong results, saving an average of £450,000 per year.

Why we created a form-based HWRC booking system.

These budget pressures are impacting councils of all sizes, stretching resources and limiting opportunities to invest in digital solutions. Yet, the demand to reduce operating costs, meet user expectations, and enhance site efficiency has never been greater.

Recognising these challenges, we set out to develop a cost-effective version of our product to make the much-needed benefits of our technology accessible to councils operating under financial constraints.

The future of HWRC booking technology.

The future of HWRC booking systems lies in harnessing AI, automation, and advanced reporting to increase efficiency, improve recycling rates, and reduce costs—capabilities already at the heart of our market-leading solution.

Recognising that every council is different, we’ve designed a version of this system that delivers essential functionality to tackle immediate operational challenges, remains budget-friendly, and provides a scalable foundation for future growth and data-led innovation.

This approach empowers sites to fast-track their digital transformation, addressing efficiency, demand, and financial pressures right from the start. At the same time, it captures invaluable operational data that enables ongoing, iterative improvements to service delivery—laying the foundation for a future-proof system.

What makes the form-based solution a game changer?

We listened to over 100 HWRC managers and analysed 20 million tip bookings to create a product built to:

Deliver security, reliability, scalability, and accessibility: Built on the same robust framework trusted by two-thirds of the UK’s largest county councils, our solution is designed to tackle the common challenges that often undermine other form-based products. We’ve prioritised addressing key issues like reliability, scalability, usability, and security to deliver a best-in-class form-based system.

Deliver a 25% cost saving compared to competitors: At only £4,999 per year, this solution offers a 25% saving compared to competing solutions over a standard G-Cloud contract.

Reduce operational costs and boost site efficiency: This product is designed to equip your team with the tools they need to enhance site efficiency, reduce costs, and elevate the user experience.
